About the Society
The European Society of Dermatopathology (ESDP) was first established in Zurich in 1979 and officially founded as a non-profit organisation in Geneva in 2016. The Society brings together clinicians, pathologists and researchers across the European continent who are dedicated to advancing the diagnosis and study of cutaneous disease.
Our Aims
- To educate through international meetings, curated slide sets, and placements for trainees in pathology and dermatology at centres of dermatopathology of their choosing.
- To establish and steward the European Diploma of Dermatopathology — equivalent to the Board Examination in the United States — accessible to both pathologists and dermatologists.
- To foster collaboration between pathologists and dermatologists with a shared interest in dermatopathology.
- To strengthen the link between dermatopathology and investigative dermatology.
- To standardise quality criteria of performance across the discipline.
